Kiwibot (an autonomous delivery robot operator) announced a crowdfunding campaign to raise up to USD 1 million through the Wefunder platform.
The filling revealed several important facts including:
The company had USD 0.3 million in revenue and USD 2.6 million in net losses in 2019
The number of delivery robots currently in use has increased to 50 (from the Pre-COVID level of 20), with 500 more units in production
Kiwibot has recorded 100,000 orders to date, along with a significant reduction in the delivery operating cost to USD 2-3/order from USD 8.21/order in 2018, which has helped the company nearly achieve breakeven
They have secured contracts with two US public companies, which could generate USD 1 million revenue/year (more details to be announced in September)
Simultaneously, Kiwibot also announced a partnership with Wing AI (an on-demand mobile assistant app) to promote contactless deliveries (at a fee of USD 1/order) during the COVID-19 pandemic in San Jose, CA.
