Serve Robotics completes an estimated USD 50 million seed round

Funding

  • Serve Robotics, a delivery droid operator spun off from Uber, has completed a seed funding round led by venture capital firm Neo, with participation from Uber and other investors. The funding amount has not been officially disclosed but is reported to be around USD 50 million.

  • The new capital will be utilized to develop its next-generation sidewalk delivery robots.

  • In January 2021, Uber revealed its plans to spin out the robotic delivery service of Postmates, known as Postmates X, as a separate company, Serve Robotics.

  • Serve is an autonomous delivery droid that travels via sidewalks using a combination of LiDAR, sonar, computer vision, time-of-flight cameras, and GPS to navigate. It is roughly 3 ft. tall and can carry up to 50 lbs. in its compartment over a two-mile radius. In December 2020, the unit launched trial deliveries in a partnership with Pink Dot, an online grocery and essentials store in West Hollywood, California.
