The drone delivery company Flirtey announced the completion of its technology “Flirtey Eagle,” a drone delivery system, and the opening of preorders, with manufacturing to be expanded in Reno, Nevada.
The company plans to license its technology to businesses within the retail, grocery, medical supply, and on-demand food delivery industries to run their own drone-based delivery system.
The system has secured regulatory certification in New Zealand and is now completing the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s certification process.
The certified technology includes “Flirtey Eagle,” its delivery drone, “Flirtey Portal,” a take-off and landing platform, and its autonomous flight operation software platform. The technology has more than 1,000 issued and pending patent claims and has conducted more than 6,000 flights to date.
Flirtey was the first to obtain FAA approval to conduct drone deliveries on a trial basis in the US in 2015. The company has so far entered into partnerships with ambulance services and other commercial partners in the US, Australia, and New Zealand, including Domino’s, 7-Eleven, and Vault Health, during its various drone-based trial delivery operations.
