Storegga Geotechnologies, a British carbon capture and storage solution provider, signed an MoU with the British airline Virgin Atlantic to secure the airline as an early customer for Storegga’s direct air capture (DAC) facility in the UK.
The collaboration with Storegga makes Virgin Atlantic the first in the aviation industry to onboard direct air carbon capture and storage (DACCS) technology, in hopes of offsetting its carbon footprint.
The DACCS technology will allow Virgin Atlantic to permanently remove carbon emissions from the atmosphere using a cost-effective methodology and will be a reliable means to further remove emissions caused during the past. Virgin Atlantic has committed to purchase the carbon removal solutions from the DAC facility proposed in North-East Scotland through Storegga’s partnership with Carbon Engineering.
