Carbon Engineering signs up BMO as new customer

Partnerships

  • Carbon Engineering, a Canadian direct air capture (DAC) and air-to-fuel (ATF) startup, plans to deliver 1,000 tons of carbon removal units to BMO Financial Group, a Canadian financial service provider.

  • The purchase was facilitated through BeZero Carbon, a British climate solutions provider. BeZero assists companies to evaluate carbon offset options through its BeZero Carbon Rating (BCR) framework. Carbon Engineering’s DAC technology qualifies for the highest rating (AAA+) on the BCR framework and is the only technology to do so.

  • BMO is the first bank to pre-purchase carbon removal units from Carbon Engineering’s DAC facilities that are still under development. The first facility is planned to be operational in 2024.
