CrushDynamics raises USD 3.6 million in Seed 2 funding

Funding

  • CrushDynamics (previously Winecrush Technology Inc.), a Canadian startup that upcycles food waste into healthy food ingredients, has raised USD 3.6 million in a Seed 2 funding round led by a group of new investors including Western Universities Technology Innovation Fund, Women’s Equity Lab, Lumia Capital, and the AgFood Opportunities Fund. Existing investor Turnham Green Capital also joined the round.

  • The funds are expected to support the company in hiring additional scientists and expanding its business development team.

  • CrushDynamics reports that it has also partnered with players such as Protein Industry Canada, Lumi Foods, and Save-On-Foods to develop the next generation of plant-based cheese using oats, legumes, and pulses.
