CrushDynamics (previously Winecrush Technology Inc.), a Canadian startup that upcycles food waste into healthy food ingredients, has raised USD 3.6 million in a Seed 2 funding round led by a group of new investors including Western Universities Technology Innovation Fund, Women’s Equity Lab, Lumia Capital, and the AgFood Opportunities Fund. Existing investor Turnham Green Capital also joined the round.
The funds are expected to support the company in hiring additional scientists and expanding its business development team.
CrushDynamics reports that it has also partnered with players such as Protein Industry Canada, Lumi Foods, and Save-On-Foods to develop the next generation of plant-based cheese using oats, legumes, and pulses.
