Mooji Meats, a Baltimore-based plant-based meat producer, has raised USD 3 million in a funding round co-led by The Good Startup, Collaborative Fund, Lever VC, and AgFunder.
As per the company, the proceedings will be used to expand R&D by purchasing equipment; recruit seven engineers, a combination of food scientists and engineers, including 3D printing engineers; and on traditional overhead. The company plans to develop its first prototype within the next six months and to bring its printers to the market within the next year and a half.
Founded in 2022 and a part of Y-combinator, Mooji meats leverages 3D printing technology and technologies developed by Harvard SEAS, to mimic whole cuts of meat. The company intends to address the trade-off between authenticity and scalability by generating outstanding textures in large volumes at reasonable costs.
