Happy Ocean Foods secures new investors for funding of EUR 300,000 during “Lion’s Den” appearance

Funding

  • Happy Ocean Foods, a Munich-based startup producing alternative seafood, netted two new investors and funding of EUR 300,000 (approx. USD 317,332) following the presentation of its flagship product, “Shrymps,”  in its appearance on Lion's Den, the German version of US show Shark Tank. Investors include Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg and Dagmar Wöhr.

  • The funding will be used to further R&D efforts in creating alternative seafood and to expand the company’s range of offerings.

  • Co-founded in 2020 by Robin Drummond and Julian Hallet, the company aims to reduce the environmental impact created by mass fishing through its plant-based seafood alternatives and is backed by VC fund Blue Horizon.
