Impossible Foods launch Impossible Nuggets and Sausages in the UK without signature ingredient

Geographic expansion

  • California-based plant-based meat producer Impossible Foods will make its European debut in the UK by launching Impossible Nuggets and Sausages patties in over 300 restaurants and foodservice outlets this month, with plans of expanding to thousands of locations in the UK by the end of the year.

  • The products launched in the UK will however not contain the company’s signature “heme” ingredient, as it has not yet received regulatory approval in the UK or EU. While this ingredient is not used in the production of their alternate chicken, it is a part of the US version of the sausage patty.

  • The company has already applied for regulatory approval and is confident that it will be granted in due time.
