Einride, a Swedish tech developer for autonomous and electric trucks, unveiled a new electric semi-trailer dubbed “Einride Trailer.” It also introduced upgrades to its operating software platform “Saga” and unveiled a new developer application programming interface (API) platform called “Einride Extend.”
The Einride Trailer—with a range of up to 400 miles—can be integrated into Einride’s electric and autonomous vehicles and is also compatible with conventional electric semi-trucks. The Saga platform that powers the unit enables the trailer to generate related AI-based insights and real-time data such as loading route planning, fill rates, cargo monitoring, and preventative maintenance. The unit is currently in design stages with plans to start production for initial pilots next year.
The company has also introduced new features to its Saga platform. It can now 1) generate plans for electrification and automation (“Evolve”), 2) visualize data across cost insights, fill rates, emission levels, etc. (“Explore”), 3) track shipments and integrate the platform with shippers’ existing order management systems (“Book”), and 4) facilitate communication between human and automated transport planning.
Einride Extend provides access to Einride’s software facilitating scalable adoption among shippers. The alpha version will be released to existing customers at the end of this year starting with the Book feature, with plans to add more features and release the official version in 2023.
