Innovatrics introduces semi-active liveness detection for facial recognition

Product updates

 • Innovatrics, a biometrics solutions provider based in Slovakia, has introduced semi-active liveness detection, a method that requires users to smile into the camera for remote verifications.

 • This method is a combination of active liveness detection (asking the user to follow a moving dot on their screens) and passive liveness detection (an advanced technology that can verify faces without any user interaction), which adds more security to the passive method. The technology will detect changes in the user’s mouth status and facial expressions in real time, improving verification accuracy.

 • Customers can try out the technology at the Seamless Middle East show starting on May 31 and on the Innovatrics iOS and Android demos afterward.

Analyst QuickTake: Innovatrics is one of the few facial recognition companies to be certified for iBeta Presentation Attack Detection levels 1 and 2 —tests that validate the accuracy of liveness detection including spoof attacks. This new introduction will further enhance the accuracy of the company’s facial recognition solutions. Acuant, FaceTec , and Idemia are some of the other companies to have obtained both iBeta levels 1 and 2 certifications for liveness detection.
