Cocuus raises EUR 2.5 million in a pre-Series A funding round

Funding

  • Cocuus, a Spanish startup focussing on 3D bioprinting technology for the creation of alternative proteins, has raised EUR 2.5 million (~USD 2.68 million) in a pre-Series A funding round led by Big Idea Ventures with participation from Cargill Ventures, Eatable Adventures, and Tech Transfer UPV. The round was preceded by the company’s participation in Eatable Adventures’ acceleration program.

  • The funding is expected to be utilized to scale up the company’s business model and its expansion into global markets.

  • Founded in 2017, Cocuus specializes in 3D bioprinting technology and scaffold-printing technologies. By utilizing these technologies, along with automation and robotics, the company has developed industrial solutions for the production of cell-based and plant-based meat analogs. The company is working toward the commercial deployment of its bioprinting tech slated for 2022 and its scaffolding technology slated for 2023.
