SciFi Foods (formerly Artemys Foods), a California-based startup producing cultivated beef, has raised USD 22 million in a Series A funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16Z). This round of funding brings SciFi’s total funding to USD 29 million.
The company intends to use this funding primarily for scaling up R&D efforts, attracting new hires for the leadership team, and marketing strategies.
Along with the funding, the company also announced the addition of a new board member—Myra Pasek, the general counsel of IronOx. Pasek, who previously held roles at Impossible Foods and Tesla, will be lending her expertise to the company to navigate regulatory approvals and commercialize its plant-based and cultivated meat hybrid.
