• Paravision, a provider of facial recognition software, has received funding from an intelligence alliance, Five Eyes’ undisclosed government partner, to develop technology to detect deepfake videos (a digitally altered video that is made to look like someone else). 

• The one-year research program will focus on developing software that is capable of detecting such manipulations leveraging Paravision’s Vision AI and facial recognition technologies. 

• Five Eyes is an intelligence alliance comprising the US, Canada, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK. 

<ul><li> Analyst QuickTake: Paravision was ranked as the most accurate facial recognition algorithm in the January 2022 one-to-many facial recognition vendor test, recording a reduction in error rate by more than 95% over the past three years. It was also commissioned by the US Department of Defense (DoD) in March for a data readiness program. Engaging in new reasearch would further improve the accuracy and usability of Paravision technology.</ul>
