Metropolis, a park-and-go app for making contactless parking fee payments, has raised USD 167 million in a Series B funding co-led by 3L Capital and Assembly Venture with participation from Dragoneer, Eldridge Industries, Silver Lake Waterman, UP Partners, and Dan Doctoroff. This brings the total funds raised to ~USD 226 million.
The firm plans to utilize the funds to further grow its workforce from its current 2,000 members to 2,500 by the year-end in order to support its growth, where it believes it can tap into a wider use case for its data including for commercial real estate developers and local businesses.
The firm also stated that its services are used in 600+ parking facilities across 60 cities, serving more than 1.8 million users.

Analyst QuickTake: The large fundraising is noteworthy given that its platform was officially launched just over a year back in March 2021. This may also be a reflection of Metropolis’s acquisition in March 2022 of Premier Parking , a parking real estate operator with more than 1 million customers, which was one of the first users of Metropolis’s solutions. With the latest round of fundraising, the firm is amongst the highest-funded smart mobility information startups we have identified.
