Carbon8 Systems, a British producer of low-cost building solutions and agricultural fertilizers using carbon dioxide (CO2), has secured a strategic investment of GBP 5 million (USD 6 million) co-led by Vicat and EDF.
The company will utilize the funds to scale up the commercialization of its Accelerated Carbonation Technology (ACT) to produce low-cost valuable products across the construction and agricultural sectors.
In addition, the funds will also be used to conduct R&D activities for other potential uses of Carbon8’s patented ACT process.
Analyst QuickTake: In July 2020, Carbon8 Systems signed a commercial agreement with Vicat Group (a French cement company) for the first commercial deployment of Carbon8’s CO₂ntainer in southern France.
