Origin Materials signs multi-year capacity reservation agreement with specialty chemical manufacturer Kuraray

Partnerships

  • Origin Materials, a carbon-negative materials manufacturer, has announced that it has signed a multi-year capacity reservation agreement with leading Japanese specialty chemicals manufacturer Kuraray.

  • As per the partnership, Kuraray will purchase Origin Materials’ bio-based carbon-negative chemical feedstocks and use them for the production of bio-based polymers such as purified terephthalic acid (PTA), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and polyamide.

  • This partnership is expected to support Kuraray in its mission to develop and produce sustainable and environment-friendly products.

Analyst QuickTake: Though Origin Materials has not generated revenue as of date, it is continuously signing capacity reservation agreements, expanding the reach of its bio-based products. The company’s signed offtake and capacity reservation agreements increased 7x since it went public, reaching USD 7.4 billion as of May 2022 .
