Skyports to deliver school lunches in Oban, Scotland

Partnerships

 • Skyports, a UK-based drone logistics company, has announced plans to trial drone-based delivery of school lunches in Oban, Scotland in partnership with Argyll and Bute Council, Scotland. This marks the first such project in the UK.

 • The drones will be deployed from Oban Airport to deliver meals prepared in Park Primary School to Lochnell Primary, covering a distance of about a mile.

 • The trial comes as a part of the council’s intention to create an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) innovations logistics hub at Oban Airport by 2025.

Analyst QuickTake: Even though this marks Skyports’ first drone-based delivery trial of school lunches in the area, its drones were previously used to make medical deliveries in Argyll and Bute in early 2021.
