Populus, a data provider for shared mobility and parking management, announced that its mobility management platform has been selected by the City of Chicago to manage its new scooter sharing program.
As per the contract, the City of Chicago will receive access to Populus’ mobility management platform to oversee the shared scooter program, which will accommodate up to three scooter companies eligible to receive permits as well as to manage the City’s Divvy bike-share program.
In addition, the City of Chicago will be piloting Populus’s curb management solution in order to standardize parking regulations in the city.
With this expansion, Populus’s platform now covers more than 100 cities around the world in partnership with 40+ operators.
Analyst QuickTake: Populus’ double offering of shared mobility management and curbside management gives it an edge, as cities may prefer an integrated offering, given that shared mobility and parking regulations go hand-in-hand.
