Geographic expansion

Infarm, a Berlin-based hydroponic vertical farming system startup offering herbs and green leaves, has announced that it will be building a new Growing Center in Howard County, Maryland. This will be Infarm’s third and reportedly largest Growing Center in the US after its Seattle and Texas facilities.

 • The 200,000 sq ft facility will have an expected production capacity of 45 million crops per year, which will serve over 23 million people across the Tri-State and Mid-Atlantic area. Infarm reported that 50% of the production from the new Growing Center has already been pre-ordered with the first harvest planned by the end of Q1 2023 and the remaining capacity to be added in 2024.

 • The company stated that the farm is a significant step in its US expansion roadmap, with plans to roll out a Growing Center network with a total size of 500,000 sq ft.
