Infarm to build its third Growing Center in Maryland

<ul><li>Infarm, a Berlin-based hydroponic vertical farming system startup offering herbs and green leaves, has announced that it will be building a new Growing Center in Howard County, Maryland. This will be Infarm’s third and reportedly largest Growing Center in the US after its Seattle and Texas facilities.</ul>

  • The  200,000 sq ft facility will have an expected production capacity of 45 million crops per year, which will serve over 23 million people across the Tri-State and Mid-Atlantic area. Infarm reported that 50% of the production from the new Growing Center has already been pre-ordered with the first harvest planned by the end of Q1 2023 and the remaining capacity to be added in 2024.

  • The company stated that the farm is a significant step in its US expansion roadmap, with plans to roll out a Growing Center network with a total size of 500,000 sq ft.

<ul><li> Analyst QuickTake : During 1H 2022, Infarm has announced the construction of two new Growing Centers, to strengthen its presence in the US. This announcement follows the construction of the Texas facility announced in February 2022 . With three farms in the US, Infarm is positioned to closely compete with its peers such as Plenty (three farms), Square Roots (four farms), and Bowery Farming (four farms).</ul>
