Infarm, a Berlin-based hydroponic vertical farming system startup offering herbs and green leaves, has announced that it is opening a 73,000 sq. ft. vertical farm in Kyle, Texas.
This will be Infarm’s second cloud-based modular vertical farming system and would reportedly be the largest “Growing Center” in Infarm’s network. Each module in the new Growing Center will be 33 ft. tall and take up 430 sq. ft. of space. The new facility is expected to produce 2.2 million pounds of salad per year, serving 18 million people in the Central Texas region.
The farm is a part of Infarm’s expansion plans to open five new Growing Centers in the US, reaching a total farm capacity of 500,000 sq. ft. The company also reported plans to build 100 Growing Centers in 20 countries by 2030.

Analyst QuickTake: Infarm continues to expand capacity in line with its plan to build 100 Growing Centers in 20 countries. The new farm capacity at 2.2 million pounds allows Infarm to compete with peers such as Plenty (2 million pounds) and Jones Food Company (1.1 million pounds). Capacity expansion comes amidst growing demand for Infarm’s produce. Previously, Infarm announced partnering with Netherlands-based online retailer Crisp and Rohilk.cz , a Czech-based online supermarket to offer its vertically produced greens.
