Rigetti enters UK with quantum computer launch

Geographic expansion

  • California-based full-stack quantum computing company Rigetti Computing has launched its 32-qubit cloud-based Aspen-series quantum system, marking its first system in the UK.

  • The system was launched as part of a government-funded project—via the UK Research & Innovation initiative’s Quantum Technologies Challenge—and will be accessible by Rigetti’s UK partners Oxford Instruments, University of Edinburgh, Phasecraft, and Standard Chartered Bank.

  • The system is expected to uplift UK’s quantum ecosystem and accelerate the development of quantum algorithms for a variety of practical applications such as financial modeling and optimization. Rigetti has also previously received two other Innovate UK grants together with its partners Riverlane and Phasecraft.
