Northvolt, a Swedish company manufacturing lithium-ion batteries for EVs, has raised USD 1.1 billion through convertible notes. This brings the company’s total funding to USD 7.1 billion.
The proceeds will be used to build new factories in Europe and to expand the production of battery cells and cathode material.
Investors who participated in the funding include AMF, AP funds 1-4, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, IMAS Foundation, Olympia Group, OMERS Capital Markets, TM Capital, and Volkswagen Group, among others.
