REE Automotive, an Israeli provider of customizable four-wheel self-driving chassis platforms, has announced a strategic partnership with Magna International, a mobility technology company, to build Modular Electric Vehicles (MEVs) under the “Powered by REE” brand.
The duo will combine REE Automotive's “REEcorner” technology with Magna’s expertise and manufacturing capabilities. This would allow users to customize vehicles based on specifications (such as platform size, payload capacity, battery capacity, etc.) and branding. REE Automotive believes the partnership would accelerate the company’s go-to-market strategy.
REE Automotive provides the REEcorner technology platform that integrates all drive components into the arch of the wheel and the flat, modular chassis, which can be used as a battery or fuel a cell-powered vehicle. Its technology is used in autonomous delivery trucks, shuttles, and robotaxis. The platform enables the design of autonomous vehicles for a broad range of purposes, including last-mile delivery, Mobility-as-a-Service, mid-mile delivery, and medium-duty delivery, among others.
