Meatable, a Netherlands-based startup developing cell-cultured meat, announced that it will be using a novel technology to produce a cultivated pork product (pork sausages) for the first time. According to the company, it will require only one single cell sample to replicate the protein structure, and the cultivated pork can be grown within just a few weeks.
The company claims the new pork sausage will have the structure, texture, taste, and overall appearance as that of a traditional sausage while also having the same sizzling properties while being cooked.
Meatable is eyeing Germany for its product launch, given the size of the sausage market in the country, pending regulatory approval, with a target go-to-market date prior to 2025.
