Netherlands-based Skytree, a developer of direct air capture (DAC) technology for indoor air purification, has deployed its first DAC unit at Growy Farms, a Netherlands-based vertical farming company.
Under the agreement, Skytree and Growy Farms developed a compact DAC unit suitable for vertical and container farms. Skytree’s pilot DAC unit weighs 45 kilograms and is sized less than two square meters.
The pilot DAC unit was deployed at Growy’s indoor farm in Amsterdam and was connected to the climate control system to supply an airstream with the appropriate levels of CO2. The CO2 concentration levels were maintained within the indoor growth chamber for over 72 hours, in accordance with Growy’s crop growth plan.
Skytree’s initial DAC units will provide up to 20 kilograms of CO2 per day and are available for pilot projects across Europe and North America.
