Huue, a California-based startup developing bio-based dyes for jeans, has raised USD 14.6 million in a Series A funding round led by Material Impact. New investor Climate Tech VC (a part of HSBC Asset Management) and existing investors IndieBio and iGlobe, along with Nobel Prize winner and CRISPR technology inventor Jennifer Doudna and Professor Jamie Cate also joined the round. All of the company’s existing investors also joined the board of directors following the round.
The funds will be used to launch commercial pilot projects and scale up production with partnered denim manufacturers in the fashion industry.
