A2Z Drone Delivery (A2Z), a developer of a tethered freefall drone delivery system that allows drones to deliver parcels without landing, has unveiled its second-generation automated delivery winch “RDS2” (Rapid Delivery System 2) and cargo drone “RDST.”
RDS2 can carry 22 lbs (vs. 4.4 lbs in its first-generation “RDS1”) and does not require specialty delivery boxes. Its patent-pending auto-release function allows for the release of the package without the need for landing or a human receiver. It can also pick up loads of up to 11 lbs while on hover.
RDS2 will be integrated into its new cargo drone model RDST, which is mainly pitched toward commercial last-mile package deliveries up to a 9-mile round trip. RDS2 will also be offered as a standalone product for a range of other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The company revealed that both the systems have now completed beta testing across various applications.
