UNLIMEAT, a South-Korean brand under Zikooin creating plant-based alternatives, announced that it has collaborated with Bayerische Fleischerschule Landshut, a renowned charcuterie institute in Germany to develop plant-based pepperoni and mortadella.
The company uses UNLIMEAT plant fat made from coconut in the production of its mortadella and claims it has 25 grams more protein compared to its animal counterpart. UNLIMEAT further claimed its plant-fat addresses the issue of vegan pepperoni drying up in the cooking process which is faced by many of its competitors.
This development marks the company’s entry into European-centric food items away from its current portfolio focussed at Asian inspired dishes such as Korean BBQ, pulled pork, Jerky, and beef mandu.
