Canadian video conferencing startup Venue raises USD 4 million in seed funding

Funding

 • Venue, a video conferencing platform for large meetings, has raised USD 4 million in a seed funding round led by Accel with participation from Stewart Butterfield (co-founder and CEO of Slack), Anthony Casalena (founder and CEO of Squarespace), and Job van der Voort (founder and CEO of Remote.com).

 • The fresh funds are to be used for product development, to scale infrastructure, and to increase the customer base.

Analyst QuickTake: Venue’s attempt to carve out a niche for itself in an already concentrated video conferencing market is noteworthy especially considering the current market leaders Zoom and Microsoft are facing difficulties in maintaining pandemic-led revenue growth as workers gradually move back to offices.
