Ivy Farm Technologies, a UK-based startup focusing on cultivated meat productions, announced the unveiling of an 18,000-square-foot cultivated meat production facility–which they claim is the largest of its kind in Europe–with an annual capacity of 2.8 tonnes of cultivated meat.
The facility is located in Oxford and houses a 600-liter bioreactor which the company stated will aid them in fine-tuning its manufacturing process. Further, the facility is expected to advance the company’s R&D capabilities while helping to cut down costs and increase scaled production.

AnalystQuickTake: In December 2021, the company raised USD 20 million from a seed funding round in order to construct a pilot R&D facility and scale up its cell-cultured pork production. In May 2021, the company shared its intentions of becoming the first commercial producer of cultured meat in the UK with plans to produce cultured sausages for supermarkets and restaurants by 2023. The company is taking necessary actions to achieve this goal although regulatory approval for selling cell-cultured meat in the UK is still not granted.
