NUBURU receives US Air Force contract to develop blue laser technology

Partnerships

  • NUBURU, a seller of 3D printers and related products, has been awarded an AFWERX (innovation arm of the US Air Force) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract to develop blue laser technology for area printing.

  • The purpose of the one-year contract is to improve NUBURU’s blue laser technology to increase speed by up to 100x, improve accuracy, increase the part size and metal density, and reduce the requirement for post-processing and part shrinkage.

  • If successful the US Air Force will be able to improve operational readiness by building replacement parts for older aircrafts that would otherwise take months to procure from the original suppliers.
