Markforged, a seller of 3D printers and related products, has completed the acquisition of Digital Metal, a Swedish developer of binder jetting technology for additive manufacturing.
The acquisition is expected to enable Markforged to produce high-throughput metal additive parts.
Markforged paid around USD 32 million in cash, another USD 1.5 million in cash to settle intercompany balances, and approximately 4.1 million shares of common stock to Hoganas AB for the acquisition.
Digital Metal will continue to operate under its own brand name as a subsidiary of Markforged. Digital Metal has aerospace, automotive, industrial, medical tech, energy, luxury, and academic companies among its customers.
