Zipline partners with Jumia for drone-based package deliveries in Ghana

Partnerships

 • Zipline, a drone-based delivery services provider, has partnered with pan-African ecommerce company Jumia to launch an on-demand drone-based package delivery service in Ghana, with plans to expand coverage to include Nigeria and Ivory Coast.

 • The companies primarily target delivering packages (weighing up to 11.8 liters or 6.6 lbs) to households in rural and remote areas via the partnership.

Analyst QuickTake: Zipline is one of the most advanced startups in the drone delivery space, having conducted 370,000+ commercial deliveries to date—mostly in Africa. Zipline already has established presence in the Ghana, Nigeria, and Ivory Coast, markets—but mostly to deliver medical supplies. Hence, we believe expanding its partnership with Jumia will help Zipline broaden its services beyond medical supply deliveries in African markets.
