Bigcommerce partners with Bitpay and Coinpayments to enable cryptocurrency payments for merchants

Partnerships

  • BigCommerce, a no-code platform used to build eCommerce websites, partnered with cryptocurrency payment processors BitPay and CoinPayments to deliver cryptocurrency payment solutions to BigCommerce merchants in select countries.

  • Eligible merchants will be able to integrate features that enable shoppers to use cryptocurrency as another payment method. Using these integrations merchants will be able to accept over 100 cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), and USD-pegged stablecoins among many others.

  • Analyst Quicktake: E-commerce giants have been embracing cryptocurrencies by entering partnerships to enable merchants to accept crypto payments. In May, BigCommerce’s competitor Shopify partnered with Crypto.com to enable its merchants to integrate “Crypto.com Pay” on their online storefronts. Shopify also partnered with Strike in April to enable US merchants to receive bitcoin payments from global customers (in USD). Partnering with Bitpay and Coinpayments complements Bigcommerce's crypto ecosystem which till recently only included integrations with OpenNode for merchants to accept Bitcoin payments.
