ENOUGH (formerly 3F Bio), a UK-based supplier of alternative protein for plant-based applications, announced the inauguration of its flagship mycoprotein facility in the Netherlands–claimed to be the world’s largest of its kind–one year after it broke ground.
The 160,000 sq foot facility will produce ENOUGH’s flagship product, “Abunda,” at an initial capacity of 10,000 tons per annum, with a target output of 50,000 tons annually by 2027.
The production of the plant was supported by Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU), with EUR 16.9 million (~USD 16.9 million) from European funds aimed at bio-based industries as a part of the Plenitude project.
AnalystQuickTake: ENOUGH raised EUR 42 million (~USD 49 million) in June 2021 to accelerate the expansion and launch of its Abunda mycoprotein which the company will be able to successfully tackle. Further, with the new facility located in the Netherlands, the company will be able to benefit from the National Protein Strategy by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture aimed at increasing the production of plant proteins at the EU level.
