Puro.earth, a Finnish startup offering a B2B carbon trading marketplace and a registry for carbon removal credits, announced the launch of its new Pre-CO2 Removal Certificates (Pre-CORC). 

These new digital assets, Pre-CORCs form part of Puro Accelerate, Puro.earth’s program to accelerate its carbon removal ecosystem. These units represent future carbon removal activities that can be purchased by organizations to facilitate prepayments of projected carbon removal. 

Pre-CORCs will be issued in the Puro Registry. Each Pre-CORC represents one metric ton of future net negative emissions, calculated by adopting Puro Standard’s carbon crediting methodologies.

Issuance of Pre-CORCs will be subject to commercial and technical risk assessment. Puro.earth has a stringent regulatory framework to protect buyers of Pre-CORCs. Such measures provide buyers with the confidence to secure the future supply of CORCs possibly at a discounted rate.
