Foodsi, a Polish startup offering a mobile app to buy and sell surplus food, raised EUR 1.2 million (~USD 1.17 million) in a seed funding round led by CofounderZone. Venture capitalist SATUS Starter and Polish angel investors, including Arkadiusz Krupicz and Piotr Czajkowski, also joined the round.
The funds will support the development of the platform and the potential acquisition of partner restaurants. Foodsi also reported plans to expand across Poland and enter international markets by next year.
Founded in 2019, Foodsi is a mobile platform aimed at reducing food waste by connecting customers to restaurants and other food companies to buy and sell surplus food. Food bought via the app is sold at up to half the price of the original. As of date, the company has over 800,000 users, which includes 500,000 new users from last year, and has 3,000 partner companies on its platform. The company also claims to have saved 850,000 packages of food from going to waste.
