New York-based quantum hardware company Qunnect has raised USD 8 million in a Series A funding round led by Airbus Ventures with participation from Quantonation, SandboxAQ, and others.
The proceeds will be directed toward further developing the company’s product offerings, expanding its manufacturing capabilities, and building an R&D quantum network testbed in New York using the city’s existing fiber optic cable network. It intends to complete the development of the quantum networking product by mid-2023.
Founded in 2017, Qunnect develops quantum hardware to facilitate quantum-based communications, networking, and the internet. The company’s product suite includes an entangled photon source device, a quantum memory device, and an automated polarization compensating device among others, and it is also developing quantum key distribution (QKD) systems by integrating its photon source and memory devices. Qunnect’s differentiation stems from the capability of its products to operate at room temperature.
