Norwegian AR platform Ludenso raises USD 1 million in seed funding

Funding

  • Ludenso, an AR platform for educational publishers, has raised USD 1 million in a seed funding round led by FERD with participation from the Atomico Angel Fund and a group of angel investors.

  • The funds are expected to help the company scale across the UK and Europe.

  • Ludenso is an AR-based authoring platform that allows publishers to improve existing or new textbooks with 3D models, embedded videos, audio clips, or links. Along with this, its offerings also include “Ludenso Explore”, where students can access the AR enrichments by scanning their physical textbooks, and “Ludenso Analytics”, through which publishers can access real-time analytics and engagement metrics. The company has partnered with the University of Oslo and major publishers such as SAGE, Aschehoug, and PG Online.

  • Analyst QuickTake : Ludenso is likely going to compete with companies such as Merge which offers AR/VR learning tools for classrooms, libraries, and STEM labs, and Prisms VR ’s algebra and calculus learning modules. Ludenso’s offering is unique because it works mainly with textbook publishers as opposed to educational institutions.
