Zwipe, a biometric payment card inlay provider, received a commercial order worth USD 225,000, from an unnamed smartcard manufacturer, reportedly one of the largest in the world. The shipment is targeted for Q4 2022.
The deal is reportedly Zwipe’s largest single commercial order, and the company claims this is a part of a larger order expected in 2023.
Analyst QuickTake: The growing commercial orders were likely supported by Zwipe’s recent approvals from global payment networks, Visa (March 2022) and Mastercard (August 2022) . Since Zwipe got these approvals, it has helped its users obtain approvals for their respective biometric payment cards, taking them a step closer to commercialization. For instance, in May 2022, Inkript announced that its biometric payment card, featuring Zwipe Pay, received Visa’s letter of approval (LoA).
