Orbital Assembly and Micro Meat collaborate to grow cultivated meat in space

Partnerships

  • California-based developer of space stations Orbital assembly has partnered with Mexican cell-cultured meat producer Micro Meat to grow cultivated meat in space.

  • Through the partnership, Micro Meat will install meat production equipment in Orbital Assembly’s pioneer-class space stations allowing to reduce in the cost of transporting food into space which currently costs ~USD 100,000 per pound.

  • According to Micro Meat, the partnership will allow it to scale its meat production on earth by applying what it learns through cultivated meat production in space with the project expected to be around two and a half years.
