Beyond Meat tests new plant-based steak and chicken products in US stores

Product updates

  • California-based producer of plant-based meats, Beyond Meat, has begun trials of Beyond Steak (plant-based seared tips), Popcorn chicken, and Chicken nuggets. While Beyond Steak appeared in a limited launch at Jewel Osco stores in the US Midwest, the chicken products have been sighted on the retailer's website.

  • The plant-based seared tips are made using a wheat gluten base and fava beans and can be found on the frozen aisle at a retail price of USD 7.99 for a 10oz package (47% more expensive than Walmart’s seasoned pre-cut beef strips).

  • Popcorn chicken and chicken nuggets–retailing at USD 5.99–are made using the same gluten base and fava beans with claims of 50% less saturated fat compared to the leading brand of real chicken nuggets and 14 grams of protein per serving.
