Amprius Technologies, an NYSE-listed company developing silicon anodes for lithium-ion batteries, was awarded a USD 1 million grant from the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Manufacturing Office. This is the third grant the company has received from the DOE, having previously received grants from its Vehicle Technology Office.
The company is to use the funds to continue to advance the high-volume manufacturing process for its nanowire-based silicon anodes, through the use of a deposition system currently used for manufacturing solar cells. This brings Amprius closer to its goal of developing high volume, low-cost, ultra-high energy density batteries offering significantly increased yield and throughput.
Analyst QuickTake: Amprius was listed on the NYSE stock exchange in September 2022, which resulted in gross proceeds of approximately USD 87 million. The company is expected to use these funds for the construction of its gigawatt hour-scale manufacturing facility.
