Alcatraz AI adds three-factor authentication to its facial authentication platform

  • Alcatraz AI, a developer of facial recognition-based access control systems, has added a three-factor authentication capability to its Alcatraz Rock facial authentication platform.

  • Three-factor authentication is a system where the Alcatraz Rock platform is used in conjunction with two other authentication methods, such as a badge reader and a personal identification (PIN) reader. Alternatively, in a one-factor authentication system, Alcatraz Rock will be the primary access control device, whereas, in a two-factor authentication system, Alcatraz Rock will be used with a badge reader.

  • A three-factor authentication system further improves facial identification accuracy, making the product suitable for high-security areas. With the new addition, the company targets data centers, nuclear plants, and other government entities, including the military.

  • The Alcatraz Rock platform uses computer vision, AI, and 3D sensing to allow frictionless entry into physical locations and can be integrated with existing access control systems. With the new upgrade, it can be used as a one-factor, two-factor, or three-factor authentication system capable of multi-person, in-the-flow sensing (allowing many people to walk in at once). Additionally, the product is equipped with AI-powered mask detection. Several security service providers, such as Johnson Controls, PSA Security Network, SAGE Integration, and TRL Systems, have already integrated the Alcatraz platform into their product offerings.
