Natron Energy launches its “Blue Rack” battery cabinet

Product updates

  • Natron Energy, a company developing sodium-ion batteries using Prussian Blue chemistry, has launched its Blue Rack battery cabinet in 250kW and 500kW configurations.

  • The company’s Blue Rack is the world’s first sodium-ion battery cabinet, which can be used for data centers, peak power-shaving, and other industrial power environments. Natron’s Blue Pack battery will be powering the Blue Rack.

  • The Blue Rack can provide up to 500kW of backup power and its sodium-ion technology has several advantages over other battery types such as; 1) the ability to produce greater maximum sustained power per energy (40W/Wh) compared to lithium-ion (10W) and lead acid (7W) 2) a life cycle that is five times greater than lithium-ion and 50 times greater than lead acid and 3) recharges in 5–15 minutes compared to lithium-ion (1 hour) and lead acid (8–16 hours).

  • Natron will be displaying and accepting pre-orders for this battery at the 7x24 Exchange in San Antonio, Texas at the end of October 2022 with plans to ship pre-production units in early 2023.
