Hoxton Farms, a UK-based cell-cultured meat startup developing cell-cultured fat using machine learning, raised USD 22 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Collaborative Fund, and Fine Structure Ventures, with participation from Systemiq Capital, AgFunder, MCJ collective, Founders Fund, Backed VC, Presight Capital, and Sustainable Food Ventures.
The funding will be used to build its first pilot production facility of 13,000 sq feet in East London for cultivated fat and demonstrate its new bioprocess at scale. Further, it will use the funding to apply for regulatory approval, develop customer partnerships to showcase its cultivated fat in products, and improve the cost of cultivated fat production at scale.
The company currently employs a team of over 20 and plans to expand up to 50 by the end of 2023.
