Boston-based biotechnology company Motif Foodworks has partnered with microbial strain development and protein production company Vectron Biosolutions to develop next-generation animal-free proteins through microbial fermentation.
Building on their existing partnership over the past 2 years, Motif will leverage Vectron’s expertise in strain development and proprietary gene expression technology to develop technologies aimed at improving the taste and texture of plant-based foods and dairy alternatives.
Vectron’s precision fermentation technology uses an evolutionary approach to strain development and bioinformatics tools for protein discovery and engineering which adds an additional method to Motif’s approaches to creating alternative foods.
