CHOOOSE, a Norwegian carbon offset solutions provider, has partnered with Booking.com, a digital travel provider acquired by Booking Holdings.
Under the partnership, CHOOOSE will provide carbon footprint data to Booking.com clients. Thereby travelers will become aware of their carbon implications of trips made.
As part of the collaboration, travelers will also be able to offset their carbon footprint by investing in carbon offset options offered through Booking.com. The initial focus will be on accommodation-related CO2 emissions, followed by other products and services, including flights. This partnership will assist travelers to choose sustainable travel options, incurring minimal or zero carbon footprint.
CHOOOSE has also partnered with Iberia, a Spanish airline, to launch a new carbon offsetting program – “CO2labora.” The project calculates CO2 based on aircraft type, weather, and the cabin traveled. The customers can offset their air travel carbon emissions by supporting two projects across the Latin American countries of Guatemala and Peru.
The first project supports the creation of new nature reserves and the maintenance of existing natural forests in Izabal, Guatemala. The second involves the development of socially inclusive companies and the use of communal lands in Peru’s Amazon jungle.
Analyst QuickTake: CHOOOSE entered into similar partnerships with travel customers including Santander, Heathrow Airport, Bidroom, Sky Scanner, SkyNRG, Lonely Planet, Avianca , and Air Canada.
