Pachama, a B2B carbon offsetting startup, has announced the launch of “Pachama Originals,” a new generation of nature-based carbon projects.
Pachama Originals allows companies to invest in creating their own forests to remove their carbon footprint. Pachama initiated its first US project in partnership with Delta Land Services, a real estate and restoration company. This new carbon restoration project is located in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley and plans to plant approximately 3.25 million trees across 6,000 acres. The project aims to restore degraded and marginal agricultural land, removing nearly 840,000 metric tons of CO2 over the next 40 years.
The US carbon project follows carbon reforestation projects deployed by Pachama in Brazil and Mexico, backed by the e-commerce platform Mercado Libre. Pachama is also on the outlook for corporate partners to undertake Pachama Originals’ projects.
Analyst QuickTake: Previously in May 2022 , Pachama raised USD 55 million in a Series B funding round led by Future Positive. These funds were used to fund the launch of Pachama Originals, high-quality forest carbon projects.
